HOW WE STARTED...

Before pursuing a career in Healthcare, Seyna was always in the kitchen helping her mom caters. She also experimented with foods and recipes while managing the kitchens at Skilled Nursing facilities. It was there that Seyna fell in love with Filipino cuisine. Similarly, Sam was determined to create her favorite dishes and drinks that celebrated her childhood in the Philippines. Thusly, the Filipino-inspired food and boba drinks menu was created. 

They began doing preorders to friends and family which gained popularity and developed to being invited for pop-ups and catering events.

It was then decided that in October 2021, Kuboba Spot needs to be a storefront. Within a few months, Seyda, Seyna’s brother had joined the venture and facilitated in the expansion of Kuboba Spot.

On July 2, 2022, they opened their first store in Berkeley CA. At Kuboba Spot, they wanted to emphasize quality and service that makes you feel right at home. While creating the menu, nothing compared to using real dairy in the boba drinks and cooking boba fresh daily. As for empanadas, they decided to show how the empanadas are made by displaying the process in the front for the customers to watch. A limited quantity of empanadas is made to ensure the customers get the closest fresh out the oven experience.
